May 20th, 2008

i-ssential listened to the users and integrates a bunch of new features in the new beta-version of the web-service thumbalizr (http://www.thumbalizr.com).

Bloggers, webmasters, account managers, designers are able to take a screenshot of webpages very fast and efficient without the need to start a graphic program.

Webmasters can use the API for their website. They can choose between a free account or dedicated products with diverse functionalities.
Amongst others user can get PNG- or JPEG-pictures, store pictures locally on the webserver and control the waiting period to shoot a screen (which is helpful for Flash-websites).

Back from the OMD

September 26th, 2007

We are just back from the OMD (Online Marketing Düsseldorf) trade fair & congress in Düsseldorf.
We heard very interesting speeches about marketing, social networking and online advertising.
We attended the keynote form Michael Tchong and the speech about trends in digital marketing. Very interesting: Jay Stevens from myspace who gave a good inside view in myspace Europe.

A sociological view on the thumbalizr launch

September 5th, 2007

weltkartenb.jpgThe launch of this product made a good example for the worldwide user-contacts.

First we wrote a german press-release and sent it to three pr-portals in the german-speaking area. Additionaly we posted a small article in the thumbalizr blog about the API-feature.

It was very clear that the press release caught the first attention to editors and german blogs. But on the second day the whole thing went into a new direction: English-speaking blogs were writing articles about us - and then it went off like a hive. Other blogs wrote about us and the logfiles told us that we made it to North America (California in special). This caught the attention of first digg.com and then techcrunch.com. At this moment the old server was under heavy use so that the site went horribly slow. It can’t get worse? It can! :-)
The next morning many spanish-speaking blogs reported on us and we had many users from brasil and argentina on our site. This made the server go fully down, so we decided to push the service by installing a new, a faster one.

In the meantime our world-tour reached canada from where it jumps over to europe to france.
Due to the fact that many spanish-speaking-blogs reported on us a second wave goes to spain and italy.

So we were in europe again…
After the mediterranian countries the hive went to scandinavia and eastern-europe.
Next step was russia and then asia and india.

Result after 2 weeks of running this service that we had visisters from 138 countries, made more than 120.00 thumbs or screenshots and made contact to a bunch of cool users out there :-)

100.000 thumbz reached

September 3rd, 2007

Another milestone has been reached: 100.000 generated thumbz!
This makes that an average of more than 7.000 thumbz per day since we started the service.

Our performance tuning also seems to be quite successful, as we haven’t encoutered any performance-issues since friday.

1st milestone of 50.000 thumbz reached

August 30th, 2007

Wow, what a stunning response. Thanks to your tremendous usage of our service, we have reached our 1st milestone of 50.000 generated thumbz in only about 10 days!
That’s much more than we could have expected. Thanks again at that point!

Unfortunately our new server (dualcore opteron 2.6 ghz, 4gb RAM !) is still quite busy handling your requests. So we’re still working hard on performance tuning, especially for the API usage…

Furthermore, we also have some new features in mind to make our services even more suitable for your requirements. So you’d better stay tuned…

Best regards, your thumbalizr team
